Mx Maile

Folk/country singer-songwriter

& Acrylic Artist

Music is a huge part of my journey. As I absolutely love the idea of storytelling through both my writing and singing. Folk has my heart as I’ve grown up listening to a lot of 60’s 70’s folk/country in my grandpas garage. It’s nostalgic and helps me bring together some of my many cultural roots , Hawaiian, Mexican, and Irish (to name a few.) my goal is to build community with art, and this is a huge way I feel I can embrace those around me—Open the floor to connect and have conversation.

Thanks for listening in!

Respectfully,

Mx Maile

Meet the Artist: Hello traveler!

My name is Mx Maile.

I studied at Cal Poly Humboldt University for a degree in Art Education and learned about how I can apply the knowledge I’ve learned by now teaching . I embrace dialog with respect, and I delve into aspects of queer culture, mental health, spiritual development, and BIPOC intersections in my work.

I want to be a mirror or be a messenger with my art. To mirror the traumatic images from my complex- ptsd I have seen, and transform them into something courageous. Doing this by having prompting questions and symbolic language within my work.

My hope is that when you look at my paintings and sculptures, you navigate through possible metaphors and archetypes with a timidness. I enjoy playing with nature, color choice, and symbolism throughout my pieces. I am ultimately a vibrant person with a sad history. I choose full-body health transformations, repurposing thoughts, and mindful application of an artist's message- that one is resilient and forever molding. When I’m not doing Art, I enjoy playing with my dogs at the beach, singing, and going on new and fun adventures. I love to get out into the world, hike, and see the beauty this world has to offer.

As a Navy veteran, I have found a deep love for political awareness through Vanessa Guillen’s case and my own experiences. I used to work as a helicopter mechanic and was challenged daily in my career. I consider myself a strong and independent womxn that has hope and compassion for this world and those around me. I hope you enjoy my art; a part of me and our journey. Respectfully,Mx Maile
